Planet first, fashion second...
At Stitch & Hide, sustainability is one of our guiding principles. We incorporate it into every aspect of our manufacturing and our supply chain because we believe it's the right thing to do. As a sustainable fashion label, we are committed to offering eco-friendly and sustainable leather products that benefit both people and the planet.
For the conscious consumer, finding a leather piece that speaks to your soul as well as your style is important! You end up buying less and buying better which helps us fight against the fast fashion movement. Your role in the sustainability loop is vital, and we appreciate your support in building a better future.
Keep it responsible
We only use eco-certified leathers sourced from tanneries, audited and certified Gold by the Leather Working Group. A Gold Rating is the highest and most difficult to achieve from the LWG, and it signifies excellence in environmental practices.
Achieving a Gold Rating from the Leather Working Group isn't easy, but it means a lot. Tanneries that earn this distinction are at the top of their environmental game, scoring 95% or above in all audit areas. Our Gold-Rated tanneries prioritise supply chain traceability, implement strict water-recycling and energy-saving measures, and are the most responsibly sourced leathers available in modern leather production
Ethical production
In addition to the ethical components provided by the LWG certification, our partners carry other well-regarded social certifications, such as SA8000, Sedex, and SMETA. These certifications ensure the ethical treatment and well-being of workers, providing safe and healthy working conditions at all times including:
• Free transportation
• Free tea
• Age group within 18 – 50 years
• No child labour
• 8-hour working days
• No overtime
• Earned leave
• Bonus system
• Labour Compliance & Welfare fund
Packaging
• Our products come in cardboard boxes that can be recycled, or dust bags that can be reused for protection, travel, storage, laundry and many other practical uses
• We use bioplastic bags for shipping, an alternative to traditional plastic bags which have faster biodegradation and leave less waste in the landfills.
